BMW Mini recalls 235,000 vehicles

The electric water pumps on some Mini models can cause a fire in the machine.

Four fires occurred on Cooper S and John Cooper Works models produced between 2006 and 2011. In the next few weeks, owners of these vehicles will receive a letter inviting them to come to the Mini dealership to have the water pump replaced. The replacement will take about an hour and is free. The company said the turbocharged engines used on these models have an extra water pump that continues to work after the engine is shut off.
“При высоких температурах эксплуатации на печатной плате управления водяным насосом возможно замыкание, что может привести к пожару”- заявили представители компании.
The car factory in Oxford produces more than 200,000 Mini's a year. China was the Mini's fastest-growing market last year.
