Latvia and Belarus: successful cooperation

In January and February, the trade turnover between Belarus and Latvia increased by more than 3.5 times.

Latvia is the most important trade and economic partner of Belarus. Last year alone, 82 additional joint ventures with Belarusian capital were created in this country (there are more than 500 of them now), and 63 companies with Latvian capital (377, respectively) were created in Belarus. The main transit corridor of Belarus runs through Latvia: it carries 57% of land cargo, and ports are busy loading Belarusian goods at 30%. In addition, Latvia is one of Belarus' main investment partners. Last year, Latvia's investments in Belarus amounted to $ 118.5 million, including about half of the direct ones. All in all, over the past five years investments have reached $ 700 million.
