Leonid Arnoldovich Fedun was born in Kiev on April 5, 1956 in the family of a military doctor. Determined to continue his medical family, Fedun entered the Rostov Higher Military Command School of Rocket Troops named after Chief Marshal of Artillery M.I. Nedelin at the Military and Political Faculty in 1972. Five years later, in 1977, after graduating from it, he continued his studies at the adjunct faculty of the Military Academy named after F. E. Dzerzhinsky. F. E. Dzerzhinsky, from which he graduated in 1984 with a degree of Candidate of Philosophical Sciences. Fedun's dissertation was titled "Public Opinion as a Factor in Strengthening Army Morale".

All this time. Leonid Fedun continued to serve in the army - from 1977 he was stationed in units of the Strategic Missile Forces, then, after receiving his degree and until 1992, he led educational work, teaching political science and political economy at the Lenin Military Political Academy. The future oligarch finished his military career in 1992 with the rank of colonel, after which he immediately decided to get two more higher degrees, this time at the Higher School of Privatization, specializing in "work with securities" and "sociology".

The way to Lukoil

Path Leonid Fedun в "Lukoil" began back in 1987, when he was sent to Kogalym at the request of the "Znanie" society to give a lecture on the problems of modernity. The lecture was attended by Vitaly Schmidt, who was at that time deputy head of the Vagita AlekperovMr. Alekperov noted Fedun's abilities and offered him to stay at Kogalymneftegaz. Fedun did not refuse, and he returned to Moscow only in 1991, when, as Deputy Minister of Oil Industry, Alekperov realized his idea to create a concern "Langepas-Uray-Kogalymneft. Fedun was invited to advise on the formation of the company, as well as to participate in its further development. It should be noted that this very company later became known as Lukoil.

While working for "Lukoil" Fedun has managed to become one of its three largest shareholders (9.2% at the time of writing), and he is constantly working to increase his stake. He is also a beneficiary of IFD Kapital (48%) together with Vagit Alekperov (52%).

"Spartak" will be the champion

The billionaire is also an avid soccer fan and owner of 90% soccer club "Spartacus." (Moscow), which were acquired for 70 million dollars in 2003 from Andrei Chervichenko. After the end of the financial crisis, Fedun plans to hold a IPO club to prove his worth not only in business, but also in such a challenging endeavor as Russian soccer. His main goal is to achieve an increase in the value of the Spartak brand to 300 million dollars, and to raise soccer in Russia to the world level.

Leonid Fedun is married and has a son and a daughter. Apart from soccer, he is also fond of music and tennis.
