Who are you, "1%"?

The richest in America mostly, work in finance, marry each other and are active in politics

The 1% richest people in America have half of their income from salaries, a quarter from self-employment and business income, and the rest from interest, dividends, capital gains, and rents. When tax returns were analyzed, it was found that 16% had medical professions and 8% were lawyers.
In the past years, investment bankers, corporate lawyers, and hedge fund managers grew the fastest. They earned about six times more than all CEOs of companies in the S&P 500 (the 500 most capitalized companies in the United States).
Membership in the "1%" is relatively stable: three-quarters were prosperous a year ago, and the vast majority, 10 years ago, were among the 10% richest citizens in the country. Kinship ties play a big role: rich parents tend to "raise" rich children. High levels of education and stable families contribute to this. According to the research company Gallup, 72% "1%" have higher education, and half of them have a degree; this is two to three times more than the other 99%.
The wealthy are increasingly marrying workers from finance, real estate and law.
Most "1%s" prefer not to talk about their happiness. Many don't like protesters on the lawn, others fear scrutiny from the IRS or government action. Almost all rich people sponsor campaign contributions, about half are friends with members of Congress and one in five have been persuaded to contribute funds on behalf of a candidate, in exchange for business assistance.
