"A lot of people make money, and a lot of money," - Dmitriy Rannev, GKFX

- Hello. Please introduce yourself. How did it happen that you got acquainted with stock trading?

- Hello. My name is Rannev Dmitry Viktorovich. I worked at Alpari for eight years, my last position was Operations Director. Now I am the General Director of GKFX.

I got to know about trading in 2001, when I got a spam message on my mail with the message "Trading at the Exchange is Easy", which offered to buy Bill Williams' trading strategy and promised to earn "big money". There was also a list of brokers, with brief characteristics (are there any demo accounts etc.). Of course, I didn't buy anything, but I chose several companies with demo accounts from the list, and tried trading. I liked it and started to analyze it further. And so I got interested.

- Exchange trading is becoming more and more a part of our life - many people know about it or are holders of certain securities. In your opinion, why is speculation popular in Russia and the CIS countries now?

- I think it's because the Internet is coming more and more into our lives, and with it better advertising that touches a larger audience. The Internet used to be a rarity, but now everyone has it. It's hard to be an internet user and not once hear about e. Trading on the exchange or e is a very interesting subject and it attracts many people. And our goal is to give people something so that they are not disappointed.

- Which markets are of interest to you and why?

- I am personally most interested in . I have tried trading on the stock markets: both Russian and Western, and I somehow wasn't impressed. I like automatic trading, and it has everything for that. Besides, everything is easy and accessible: you don't have to make any extra movements, just open the terminal, run the editor and write the automatic systems.

- What don't you like about the structure of exchange or OTC trading or would you like to change?

- I don't like the complexity of the exchange system. It is difficult to open an account, it is difficult to send money (especially large), I also do not like the sessionalism. I do not like the lack of transparency. Not to be cheated you have to know a lot and control everything all the time. I try to build my company according to the principle that traders do not waste their time and nerves on control and constant struggle with the company, so that they understand that they will not be cheated and they can trade safely here.

- In your opinion, can anyone become a trader?

Yes, anyone. But not many people can become a profitable trader. To become successful, you have to understand that everything is not so simple and that you have to study and understand a lot. To do this you need to read what experienced people write, including the heads of companies, because the important information is not available, you can only get it from someone who has "eaten the dog" or is on the other side of the monitor. But even the words of authority figures and representatives of brokers need to be considered, because there is a lot of slyness, and not everything sounds logical.

- What qualities should a trader have in order to become a professional?

Must have professionalism. Many qualities must be present, and most of them are not given immediately, but come with time. I've seen people who carry money around for years and lose it without making any conclusions. Most traders treat trading like a game or like a one-armed bandit, they never become professionals either. A professional has a trading strategy with formalized rules, he doesn't expect big quick profits, he understands how the market works and understands how companies work.

- Many people consider trading on the exchange market to be either a frivolous business or a scam. What do you have to say about it?

- And many make money, and a lot of it. Deception abounds, but experienced traders easily identify it before they send money to the company. Learn, learn and learn again, as the "great" Lenin bequeathed.

- In your opinion, what is the most common mistake traders make?

- They don't draw conclusions. It may not be the most obvious mistake, but it can lead to losses that don't stop for years.

- Why traders should work with your company?

- The first is that we are an honest company, and all of our work is built to show our honesty. We may have glitches and other problems (nothing is perfect), but we don't cheat anyone, we don't put sticks in the wheels, and we don't take anything extra for ourselves.

Secondly, we have spent a lot of time and money to develop one of the most advanced ECN with good trading conditions and quality transparent execution, which are only getting better month after month. I believe that the future а behind companies like ours.

- Surely you have had some funny situations with clients during your work at the Dealing Center (Broker). Without mentioning any names, could you share one with us?

- There was a funny time when Alpari had a dealing room. Some traders just lived there, walking around in slippers, eating out of thermoses and never taking their eyes off the monitor for a second (figuratively). That is they didn't do anything, didn't analyze anything, just sat there and hypnotized the quotes. If the price went in their direction, they would walk in the hall, talking loudly and being very sociable, if it didn't go in their direction, they would stare into the monitor like zombies, waiting till the fate would turn to them. Now there aren't such halls any more, but I'm sure that many people are sitting at home in the same way. Therefore, the trader has the task not only to become a professional, but also not to turn into a zombie.

- What advice would you give to newcomers to the exchange?

- Don't believe everything that happens to them in the first year of trading. In the second year, they will start to realize that it's not that simple.

Prepare to lose deposit after deposit, and understand that this is not just a loss, but a fee for learning.

Read forums, gain experience, try all possible strategies and types of analysis, until they feel that they have found their own. Then they refine it into a specific strategy. The strategy must be fully formalized (clear rules of entry, exit and retention). If there is intuition in the strategy, with a high probability, it will fail.
