The successful trader and his workplace

So, you are a trader. You have the following: repeatedly tested and reliable trading strategyThe ability to control risks and keep your emotions in check. Is this enough for profitable trading on the currency market? Some would say - quite. But we will allow ourselves to object - no, it is not enough. A very important role is played by where and how you trade and what your working environment is like. As you have already guessed, today we will talk about a trader's workplace and what it should be like ideally.

Trader's workplace

What a computer for trading should be

We do not need to launch satellites into space, so a trader does not need a super-powerful computer. However, you should not go to extremes either - an ancient "calculator" is hardly suitable for a successful trader. It is enough that the trading terminals you use work fast and do not hang, and the machine's resources allow you to work in a browser, watch videos or use other programs without slowing down performance.

It is very important to have some kind of backup electronic device at hand. It can be a simple notebook or even a smartphone, luckily, nowadays almost every broker has a mobile trading platform. This is in case the computer (unexpectedly, as always) refuses to turn on, the hard disk drive goes down, the cooler dies, etc.

Which monitor is better to trade on

In Wall Street feature films, the trader's workstation is furnished with monitors on all sides, including a monitor in the back for the eyes in the back of the head. It's all unnecessary. You can cover yourself head to toe with monitors, but it will not make you a better trader.

One monitor is quite enough for comfortable trading. And it is better if it has a diagonal of 19 to 24 inches. This will allow you to trade comfortably and watch a movie or a video about funny kitties while having a rest.

Don't forget the internet

The adage "the faster the better" applies to the modern Internet. We believe that this does not need any explanation. However, even after installing a fiber optic cable and getting a speed of 100500 mbps, you should not relax. You need to have a backup plan in case the Internet (as always on time) goes down.

This could be a duplicate line from another provider, a 3g modem, or a smartphone in modem mode.

My soul is on the sea, but my ass is somewhere on a chair.....

Trader's workplace

Do not underestimate the importance of what you are sitting on. Everything in the human body is interconnected. The spine is directly linked to brain function, headaches and your overall health. What will your performance be like if you sit on a kitchen stool at your computer for half a day?

Do not spare money and buy yourself a good computer chair. Don't skimp on your health, and you'll still make money.

Does a trader need a printer

Strictly speaking, if the previous items were mandatory, this one is optional. Having a printer at your work, or even better a MFP that combines a printer, photocopier and scanner, will make trading more convenient.

You can print out the necessary graphs, draw on them with a pencil or marker, make for yourself tables and posters with important information, etc. It is very good if it will not lie on the table, but hang on the wall in front of your eyes.

And perhaps most importantly

Lastly, we left the most important requirement for a trader's workplace, according to our Fortrader experts. This is the need to separate personal life and workspace. You will agree that no effective trading is out of the question if next to you "As I remember now, Varya is dying, Ivan Israelievich is in the next room, pinned down by a grand piano...".

[/info_block]

If possible, it is better to have a separate room for trading, where you will not be disturbed. Let's assume the option of renting an office. Don't let the word "office" scare you - it can be an ordinary small-family house, where you will definitely not be disturbed by anyone (don't forget to warn your wife, as if something didn't happen :)).
