Is it worth buying Yandex shares against the background of a good IPO Ozon?
The successful IPO of Ozon boosted shares of Yandex and Sberbank, which are also developing their marketplaces. Given Bank of America's upgrade of Yandex from "neutral" to "buy," the re-launch of Yandex.Market may well be overvalued.
Shouldn't we look at buying Yandex shares right now for the future? Leonid Delitsyn, an analyst at Finam Group, answered Fortrader's question.
- Yandex shares It makes sense to buy with a 5-year horizon, but in this case the timing is not that important. In general, in June, when it became known that large stakes (worth hundreds of millions of dollars) were purchased by Russian metallurgists led by Roman Abramovich, we said the same thing: they are not buying them in order to sell them in three months.
It's funny, at that time the shares were worth 3,450 rubles, and now they are worth 4,965 rubles, which means that the billionaires could have already fixed their profits. But so far there is no evidence that they are selling them.
The growth potential of the company and the value of its shares is far from exhausted. This does not mean that they cannot fall sharply in the future - it has happened in the past, and more than once. But for a long-term investor, such declines are not too important. As for purchases with a shorter horizon, there are no fundamental reasons for immediate growth. IPO Ozon - is not a strong enough growth driver. And the success of your own marketplace will become apparent in a year or two.
